Iran opposes any foreign interference in region: Velayati

Advisor to the Supreme Leader on foreign affairs Ali Akbar Velayati said on Saturday that the Islamic Republic of Iran opposes any foreign interference in the countries of the region and will stand up against the oppression, conspiracy, aggression and malicious plots of the enemies to undermine and disintegrate the countries of the region.

Ali Akbar Velayati made the remarks in his meeting with the Syrian Ambassador in Iran in presence of a delegation of tribal chiefs and tribal sheikhs on Saturday morning.

He pointed to the US president's irrational stance, saying that the US president declares that the US uses the Syrian of oil reserves, it is an illegal act, an obvious theft and blatant violation of International Law.

He added that property of each country belongs to the same nation and these positions represent conspiracy and malicious acts of enemies for the Islamic countries of the region and one must resist these blatant violations and theft of the oppressed nation's property.

He said that Iran is against creating a buffer zone by foreigners in Syria and foreign interference in Syria or elsewhere in the region, because it means geopolitical shift in the region and separating countries and handing it over to foreigners. That is in conflict with Syrian interests.

Velayati said that Iran opposes the US plan to support the opposition of the Syrian government, adding that they they have committed many crimes in Syria and that by such a plan would mean a practical breakdown of Syria.

"If a change in the Syrian constitution is to be made only by the Syrian people and without intervention of any other country, we are confident that the Syrian people and government will soon release Idlib and reach the Euphrates because the region will become a nation," he said.

Velayati added that over the past nine years, the Syrian opposition have perpetrated atrocity crimes in Syria, and if the people of the region remain silent toward the atrocities, such crimes will be committed against themselves someday as well, because of the conspiracy and evil plan of enemies for the region and Islamic countries.

Ayatollah Ramazani: Sheikh Zakzaky must hospitalised

In an exclusive interview with Iran Press news agency on the sidelines of a press conference on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of Zariya disaster and illegal detaining of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, Ayatollah Reza Ramezani, Secretary-General of the Ahl-ul-Bayt World Assembly said: "The Muslim countries have to follow up Sheikh Ibraheem Yaqoub Zakzaky's health and to make the Nigerian government accountable in this regard."

"The status of this prominent figure must be pursued through international organizations and should not be considered as a security issue," he emphasized.

"The international organizations must ask Nigeria's government to pay attention to Sheikh Zakzaki's physical condition and hospitalize him, as physicians and specialists have warned, his health is deteriorating, his left eye is getting blind, several bullets are left inside his body and he is prone to other illnesses," said Ayatollah Reza Ramezani.

"Ignoring the critical health status of Sheik Ibrahim Zahzaky by the international organizations can end up in irreparable consequences in the future," Ramezani warned.

Ayatollah Ramazani urges Muslim states to demand guarantees on Sheikh Zakzaky health

The Secretary General of the World Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) Assembly urged Muslim countries to demand that Nigeria’s government ensure the safety and health of senior Shia cleric Sheikh Ibrahim al-Zakzaky.

Speaking at a forum in Tehran on Tuesday marking the 4th anniversary of the Zaria Massacre in Nigeria, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani said Islamic countries should use their social and political capacities and demand ensuring Sheikh Zakzaky’s health.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) should also act in this respect, he said.

Ayatollah Ramazani noted that Sheikh Zakzkay’s health is in critical conditions and he should receive treatment immediately.

In December 2015, the Nigerian army raided Sheikh Zakzaky’s residence and nearby buildings in the northern city of Zaria.

The top cleric, who is in his mid-sixties, lost his left eyesight in the raid. More than 340 people, including the Sheikh’s sons, were also killed at the hands of the Nigerian army.

Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife as well as a large number of his supporters were arrested following the raid.

The Sheikh was charged just in April 2018 with murder, culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, disruption of public peace and other accusations. He has pleaded not guilty.

In 2016, Nigeria’s federal high court ordered his unconditional release from jail following a trial, but the government has so far refused to set him free although his health has been deteriorating in detention.

Israel air raids against Syria will not go unanswered: Iran's Velayati

Israel air raids against Syria will not go unanswered: Iran's Velayati

A senior Iranian official says Israel “will regret” committing acts of aggression against Syria, and that the Syrian and Lebanese nations will give a response to the Tel Aviv regime.

“Israeli airstrikes against Syria will not go unanswered, and Tel Aviv will regret having committed these crimes,” Ali Akbar Velayati, adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on international affairs, said in an interview with Russia Today’s Arabic channel due to be aired on Tuesday night.

“Sooner or later, Israel will receive a response for its aerial attacks on and crimes in Syria,” he said, expressing hope that resistance forces in Syria and Lebanon would “stand against the crimes committed by the US and Israel.”

He said that “Israel cannot continue its unlawful aggression in the region with impunity.”

Velayati further dismissed as “propaganda” anti-Iran remarks made by Israeli officials, saying, “Tel Aviv is powerless and cannot carry out its threats against Iran.”

The Iranian official also said that the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement will “raze Israel to ground” if the regime dares to attack Lebanon.

The regime sporadically carries out such attacks via Lebanon’s skies against positions of pro-Damascus forces or what the regime usually claims to be Iranian targets in Syria, where Tehran has military advisors deployed.

The latest such attack took place on the weekend.

At Syria’s request, Iran — along with Russia and Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement — has been supporting the Syrian military’s efforts to cleanse the Arab country of terror groups, many of which have the support of Israel, the US and their regional allies.

Israel views the Islamic Republic’s advisors in Syria as a threat and has openly pledged to target them out until they leave the country.

Both Tehran and Damascus have rejected claims of Israeli attacks on Iranian targets as sheer lies and pointless propaganda.

Damascus has repeatedly called on the UN to adopt necessary measures to stop Israel’s acts of military aggression on the Arab country.
