The AhlulBayt(a.s.) News Agency (www.abna24.com)

In the course of history, the followers of Ahlulbayt - like their holy Imams - have always been subjected to oppressions. Apart from cruelty and oppression against Shiah Muslims during the dark period of the reign of the Umayyad, the Abbasid, and the middle centuries of Islamic era, the procedure continues to exist in the modern era as well.

Weak communications and lack of information among Shiites can be causes for continuation or even intensification of oppressions against them.

This is due to the fact that normally, the mass media and means of mass communications are in the hands of those rulers and powers who are in the frontline of opposition against the pure Mohammedan Islam.

With a correct understanding of the state of affairs, the Ahlulbayt World Assembly established a trilingual news website in 2004 in order to fill the void.

The initial website was wellreceived by the Shiites in Iran and other countries; so the need was felt to continue its activities in the form of a more formal news agency.

Thus, the new period began from August 2007. In an official inauguration ceremony, and with the presence of the Iranian President, the formerwebsite changed its name to 'AhlulBayt News Agency  ABNA'(www.abna24.com).

By the grace of Allah and blessings of the Infallible Imams, today ABNA has been transformed into an influential news agency, having its own cadre of writers and journalists - both inside and outside the country- in several languages.

Fortunately, during its short period of activity, ABNA is introduced as the most-visited religious news agency in Iran and most-viewed Shiite news agency in the world.

Through its timely broadcast of news, ABNA has succeeded to play a significant role in alleviating the pains and sufferings of the followers of Ahlulbayt in the world. Some examples as follows:

- Coverage of news pertaining to the persecution against Shiite people of Parachinar in Pakistan.

- Coverage of news regardingatrocities against Shiites of Sa’dah in Yemen.

- Coverage of news concerning oppressionsagainst Shiites in Gambia

- Extensive coverage of news on the recent wave of IslamicAwakening, particularly in connection with Bahrain.

Currently, ABNA conducts its activities in 20 languages including English, Arabic, French, Chinese, Farsi, Spanish, German, Russian, Turkish, Azeri (in two Latin and Cyrillic scripts), Urdu, Bengali, Malay, Indonesian, Hindi, Bosnian, Italian, Swahili, and Myanmar (Burmese) languages.

In addition to its main duty (news coverage), ABNA offers a number of religious and cultural pages with no expiry date. Some of the page titles as follows:

Quranic Topics – Hadith (Narrated Islamic Traditions) – Life History of the Holy Prophet and his Ahlulbayt – Keeping Pace with Wilayat – Life History of Ulema (Grand Shiah Scholars) – Shiah Martyrs (Shohada) – Articles – Speeches – Interviews – Why I Became a Shiah? – Companions of the Ahlulbayt (a.s.) – Mahdism – Hijab (Islamic dress) – Why I Wear Hijab? – An Introduction to Wahhabism – An Introduction to Zionism – Other Religions and Schools of Thought – Poetry and Literature – Short Religious Messages – ABNA and the Readers.

The Grand prize of the Holy Prophet(p.b.u.h)

Due to the intensified propaganda of the enemies of humanity and their shifting from the physical war to soft war, particularly their exploitation of the tools of arts for desecration of the Holy prophet (s.a.) and Islamic sacred beliefs, the Ahlulbayt World Assembly decided to found the Ahlulbayt Arts and Culture Festival in order to take advantage of the weapon of arts for defending Islamic values.

The first round of the abovementioned festival was organized in 2013 – 2014 as The Grand Prize of the Holy Prophet (s.a) in the fields of "short film", "short documentary", "animation", "scenario", and "writing or translation of books in English" with the subject of "Prophet Muhammad (s.a.); the Messenger of Mercy and Justice".

Works of Art

Art plays a significant role in presenting religious culture and teachings.

Tens of exquisite religious art paintings and calligraphy works portraying verses of the Holy Quran and narrated Islamic traditions in beautiful Arabic or Farsi scripts have been produced in the Arts Department of the AhlulBayt World Assembly.

A collection of the images of these works of art have been published in a single-volume booklet. Some other art works are available in form of posters, postcards and CDs.

Mass media play a significant role in today world.

Due to the vast malicious attacks of deviant TV channels, there is a dire need for launching reverse TV networks to guide people and safeguard the ideology of the Ahlulbayt's school of thought.

In this way, the Ahlulbayt World Assembly supports TV and Radio Channels, which try to revive the culture of the Holy Quran and promote the teachings of pure Islam and Infallible Imams (a.s.)
