In a message, the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly expressed his condolences on the demise of Ayatollah Mujtahid Shabestari.

In a message, the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly expressed his condolences on the demise of Ayatollah Mujtahid Shabestari.

The message is as follows:

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

«مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَضَىٰ نَحْبَهُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَنْتَظِرُ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا تَبْدِيلًا» (القرآن الکريم، سورة: الاحزاب، آیة: 23)

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

 (Among the faithful are men who fulfill what they have pledged to Allah: there are some among them who have fulfilled their pledge, and some of them who still wait, and they have not changed in the least,) (Holy Quran, Surah: Al-Ahzab, Verse: 23)

The demise of Mujahid and servicing Alem and revolutionary fighter Ayatollah Haj Sheikh Mohsen Mojtahed Shabestari, caused great grief and regret.

Raised in the house of knowledge and Ijtihad, he spent many years teaching and learning in seminaries and benefited from the presence of the great Ulama of the teachings of AhlulBayt (a.s.).

The felicitous deceased spent more than five decades of his honorable life propagating Islam, teaching, preaching and guidance in various Minbar, and by the management of seminaries and composing various works in the fields of Tafsir and Fiqh, he trained many clerics to serve the Islamic community.

Accompanying late Imam Khomeini (r.a.) and the combatant and awake clerics in the great Islamic movement of the Iranian people, and then endurance in the way of the revolution and the Supreme Leader, was another brilliant chapter of his prolific life. The most memorable manifestation of this endurance was his leadership in the popular uprising of Tabriz in December 2009 in support of the holy system of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the principle of Velayat-e Faqih, which took place one day before the “9^th Dey” epic (December 30, 2009), in all over Iran.

The late Ayatollah Mojtahed Shabestari was also a member of the Supreme Council of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, who had very efforts for the affairs of the Shiites of the world. Seven years of presidency of the Supreme Council of the Assembly, missionary trips to different parts of the world - especially Turkish-speaking regions - and regular attendance at the meetings of the “chosen committee” of the council, which lasted until the last days of his life, are examples of this special effort.

Jihad during the years of holy defense (8-year war imposed on Iran by Iraq) and long service in the stronghold of the Friday Prayer Imamate, the membership of Islamic Consultative Assembly, the Assembly of Leadership Experts and the Expediency Council are other golden leaves of the book of the life of that tireless figure.

On this irreparable loss, I offer my condolences to Imam Mahdi (a.s.) and to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the grand sources of emulation, the martyr-nurturing people of Azerbaijan and Tehran, seminaries and all students, disciples, enthusiasts, and relatives, especially his dear son, honorable Hojat al-Islam Haj Sheikh Javad Mujtahid Shabestari.

From God Almighty, I ask for exaltation and companionship with the pure saints for the felicitous deceased, and patience for his family and acquaintances.

“Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him do we indeed return” (Holy Quran 2:156)
