Secretary-General of ABWA to German youth: Inform people about “Modern Slavery” & “Postcolonialism”

On the occasion of the birth of Imam Ali Akbar (a.s.) and Youth Day, the webinar meeting “Youth, AhlulBayt (a.s.), modern Islamic civilization” was held by the Office for International Affairs of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly with the cooperation of German Muslim youth.

Organized in line with the series of programs for the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, in this webinar meeting, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, the Secretary-General of the Assembly, Dr. Yavuz Özgüz, and Maher Faqih, prominent professors of the German Muslim community, delivered their speech at the meeting.

“Today, young Muslims must be rational, thoughtful, spiritualistic, responsible, and just; And wherever he is present, he should have these characteristics and introduce the truth of Islam with his behavior,” emphasized the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly in his speech.

“Young people must be aware of the social, cultural, and political challenges facing human society, such as oppression, poverty, discrimination, and injustice. They need to know that many children and adolescents today suffer from malnutrition. Modern slavery is used in various ways. In “Postcolonialism”, the West seeks to deceive people with beautiful words,” he added.

The full text of the speech of the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, Ayatollah Ramazani, in this webinar which was held on the evening of Wednesday, March 24, 2021, is as follows:

I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Satan

In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

I am very happy to say these few words on these great days. I offer my congratulations to all of you brothers and sisters, and I hope that God Almighty will grant Tawfiq to all of us to enjoy the spiritual atmosphere of this noble month (Sha’ban) and we should not neglect the supplication of Sha’baniya, so that, God willing, we pave the way for enjoying the month of Ramadan, the Ghadr Nights, Eid al-Fitr, and InshaAllah we receive the spiritual reward that God has set for us.

It is very important for those who live in places like yours, especially the younger generation, to pay attention to their duties.

There is a lot of discussion about young people. It is even emphasized in the Hadiths that you must pay serious attention to the younger generation. Imam Ali (a.s.) wrote in a letter to Imam Hassan (a.s.), “Because of the set of experiences I had, I gathered everything that was necessary and gave it to you so that you can use it the past experiences. Also, before you run into any problems, I overtook you in the discipline. Because before the mind becomes confused and scattered, it is very important to organize it.

How young Muslim life in today’s world and what s/he pays attention to, are important points that I would like to mention in this short time.

Certainly, in a world where different ideas, such as humanism, liberalism, and absolute human freedom, are presented and the results are nothing but vulgarity and debauchery, we must define for ourselves a precise logic in life and define how to live. That is, basically, what should we mean by life and happiness and what we expect of it.

Today’s world often seeks to lead the younger generation to superficiality in order to educate them based on sentiments. That is, s/he pays attention to appearances and in fact, they do not want her/him to know other dimensions of her/his existence to flourish.

Therefore, we must have logic in our lives and follow the path that we have determined based on the school and religion of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) in a goal-oriented way. The school of AhlulBayt (a.s.) presents this view to us precisely so that we can pay attention to the set of capacities that are given to human beings and all dimensions, including the emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and social dimensions, and consequently all dimensions to be known.

Today, young Muslims must be rational, thoughtful, spiritualistic, responsible, and just; And wherever they are present, they should have these characteristics and introduce the truth of Islam with their behavior.

I would like to make a few points about what a young Muslim should do according to this logic. Of course, it is also possible for a person to realize this logic in himself and own this behavior.

In describing his son, Hazrat Ali Akbar, Imam Hussein (a.s.) said, “أشبه النّاس خَلقاً و خُلقاً و منطقاً برسول الله”. The man may not be like the Prophet in terms of creation and appearance (خَلقاً), but in morality (خُلقاً و منطقاً) one can emulate the Prophet; of course, everyone as much as his capacity. If a person has good morals, he can reach perfection with this spirituality. This requires self-knowledge and self-awareness. When a person knows his potential, he will try to flourish it.

One of the tasks that the younger generation seems to have to consider is self-awareness for guidance. Today, the kind of attitudes that are presented in human societies, lead to a kind of anonymity, bewilderment, and confusion that leads to depression, heartbreak which is a threat to human society and the younger generation. Therefore, one must acquire the correct self-awareness, self-belief, and self-knowledge along with his set of capacities in order for self-awareness to provide the ground for identity recognition.

The path of humans must be the path of thought and reason. Feelings and emotions must also be under the control of reason and thought, otherwise they may go to extremes and later cause regret. As Imam Ali (a.s.) said, “There is no worship like thinking.” Thinking is valuable worship that guides man and gives him a perspective on life that is important.

Studying science is another task of young Muslims today. They must be at the forefront of the scientific field and be prominent in various contemporary disciplines needed by human society.

Another point is that one should pay attention to morality, be spiritual, not superficial. Because the West calls mankind to superficiality. But in the school of AhlulBayt (a.s.), spirituality is important, that is, paying attention to the meaning and concept of life and its truth.

Young people need to pay attention to social, cultural, and political challenges, and what is happening in the human world today, such as problems, oppression, poverty, discrimination, and injustice. For example, many adolescents and children suffer from malnutrition. Young people need to know about modern slavery. They need to know how the West seeks to employ today's human society. In Postcolonialism, the West seeks to deceive people with beautiful words.

We need to know that these are beautiful words and concepts, but in fact, they are all kind of challenging human beings.

We must pursue demands, especially in the field of justice, on the world stage. If there is authoritarianism, tyranny, and exploitation, which really exists in today's human society, introduce it to others wherever it exists to prevent the continued colonization of humanity and today's generation. The worst kind of colonization is intellectual and moral colonization.

If the path of human life deviates in terms of thought and morality, he or she has lost life and will have no logic for it. Such people, the maximum that can imagine for themselves, is enjoying in this world. If a person seeks only this superficial pleasure of the world, the way he looks and interacts with people will be very different from a person who has a faithful view of the origin and resurrection.

Certainly, a faith view of the origin and resurrection causes one to have an afterlife view, and the (material) “world” becomes his means and tools. Such a person becomes goal-oriented and seeks it and tries to reach it and make a serious move in that direction; a movement based on science, thought, faith, and spirituality that will definitely lead him to his destination.

I hope that we will become more familiar with the school of AhlulBayt (a.s.) day by day. I hope that the young generation, in particular, will come to a true knowledge of themselves in order to use the will and authority that God Almighty has placed in them to achieve great goals. After that, serve and help human beings and help the young generation and teenagers to know the way and the destination. This is the help that the divine prophets were concerned about. In human societies, part of this task is the responsibility of the younger generation.

When young people know and find themselves, they can have a worthy presence in various fields.

Good Luck

Peace be upon you

Why is the book “Quran of Historians” important?

By: Saeed Jazari Mamoui

February 26, 2021

This work presents the unspoken and unheard angles of study of some Western scholars in the history of the Quran and its context, which can provide the ground for new research in the heart of the study and Quranic centers of Islamic countries.

“The Quran of Historians” is an important and academic work in the field of Quranic studies, which is written over a period of more than five years in France and was published in November last year at CERF Publication in Paris under the supervision of Professor “Mohammad Ali Amir Moezi”, a Shiite scholar and prominent professor at the Sorbonne University of France (School of Practical Studies) and in collaboration with Guillaume dye (University of Brussels) and a group of Prominent Western professors and researchers.

This book is in fact a kind of historical-analytical encyclopedia on the subject of the Quran, the course of revelation, the opinions of historians, and various related hypotheses. Written in three thick volumes of more than 4,000 pages, this book, while introducing and translating verse by verse of the Quran and expressing interpretive points taken from the opinions of famous Muslim commentators and Western thinkers, has analyzed it from a critical and historical perspectives.

This book is valuable for scholars in Quranic studies from several perspectives:

1. Amir Moazi and his group have been able to use their critical and analytical study methods to present most of the popular interpretive ideas along with the reflections of Orientalists and Quranologists in an independent collection with popular literature in Western universities. This has never been done before in any of the Western academic and research institutes on this scale.

2. This work presents the unspoken and unheard study angles of some Western scholars in the history of the Quran and its textology, which can provide the ground for new research in the study and Quranic centers of Islamic countries. In other words, certainly, this style and context of critical-analytical studies can create its hypotheses as to the title of new research for researchers in the Islamic world.

Although some Western theories may not be compatible with traditional Islamic theological texts at first glance, the existence and design of these hypotheses can help in enriching and fertilizing analytical ideas in the field of Quranic studies.

Although the style of critical and analytical studies in traditional and hadith texts is not yet as widespread as it should be and traditional currents in Islamic countries are not fully associated with it, but the neglect of Muslim scholars in this type of research is also not acceptable.

Understanding the thoughts of others while studying their works can provide new and valuable resources in the field of Islam in the general sense. It seems that this type of study has and will have an undeniable effect on the evolution of ijtihad methods.

3. This great academic work can be a valuable resource even for non-experts in Quranic studies in understanding the type of view and studies of Westerners of Islam. However, it seems unlikely that a Persian or Arabic translation of this academic work would be available soon.

4. Bibliography of studies and works of Quranic studies is also an important chapter of this academic work that will definitely be of great importance for researchers in this field.

In the end, it should be mentioned that this important work has been compiled with the academic management and valuable efforts of Professor Amir Moezi in the secular study-academic environment of France. That is its course of study is independent of religious thought or opposition to religion. The academic and research system in France, based on the principle of “neutrality in research and education”, causes Muslim and non-Muslim scholars to refrain from expressing their views in favor or against religion in this precious work. Of course, this does not mean denying the writers’ inner perceptions. But in any case, this kind of research perspective does not decrease the value of the work, and its greatness and scope will certainly be obvious to researchers.

Insulting Prophet Muhammad, insult to Morality, Humanity, Spirituality, Justice

Insulting Prophet Muhammad, insult to Morality, Humanity, Spirituality, Justice

Friday, 30 October 2020

The Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s) World Assembly denounced the French President's support for insulting the Prophet Muhammad (a.s.).

"The blessed days of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad and Imam al-Sadegh (a.s.) are days of joy and happiness for all Muslims. But some have turned happiness into sorrow by insulting the sanctities of Islam", ayatollah Reza Ramazani said on Wednesday morning, October 28, in a class of the Advanced Islamic Jurisprudence course which was held virtually.

"Insulting the Prophet Muhammad (s.w.) is an insult to morality, humanity, spirituality, and justice," said the secretary general of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, "All Muslims, seminaries, university professors in Islamic countries, and Muslim and non-Muslim governments and nations should denounce the insult to the Prophet (s.w.)."

"Prophet Muhammad (s.w.) is the Prophet of kindness and love and has been sent by God to spread love. The character of the Prophet is the embodiment of the Qur'an and in Surah al-Qalam, verse 4, God testifies to the greatness of his morality. He is a prophet who, after all the harassments by the pagans, took a covenant from Imam Ali (a.s.) after the conquest of Mecca that a drop of blood should not be shed from the people. The concern of the Prophet (s.w.) was to guide humanity, he was greedy to guide the people and he toiled for this purpose", Ayatollah Ramazani stated about the personality traits of the Prophet (s.w.).

Referring to the insult to the Prophet (s.w.) in Western countries, he noted, "Some European and American countries disregard the Qur'an, claiming to promote and defend human and human rights. Some European countries and the United States, claiming to be progressive and defending human rights, disregard the Quran, and attribute violence to the Prophet (s.w.) and Islam. This is while all Quranic verses speak of compassion and mercy toward humanity. And based on the verse "And We did not send you except as a bearer of good news and warner to all mankind, but most people do not know" (34:28), the Prophet Muhammad (s.w.) has a mission to spread divine mercy to all mankind and he is the one who teaches the good and moral virtues to all human beings."

"For more than a few decades, unfortunately, the anti-Islamic project in various forms and excuses, one of which is freedom of expression, has been seriously discussed and implemented in the scientific centers of the Western world", referring to the anti-Islam project in the Western world, Ayatollah Ramazani said, "What we see are countless insults and slanders against the Prophet of Islam and Muslims under the pretext of freedom of expression. Despite the failure of the anti-Islamic project in the West, they continue their efforts. They even seek to include the caricatures of the Prophet (s.w.) in students' textbooks."

Ayatollah Ramazani said, "In the West (France), Rouge Garaudy, who researched the Holocaust, was tried; If Western presidents are insulted, they will be condemned; but they consider insulting the Prophet (s.w.) as an example of freedom of expression! This is in contrast to the fact that insulting sanctities is forbidden in both the Old and New Testaments, and in the past, those who do as such were severely condemned. It should also be said that insulting the sanctities of religions is against international law, and insulting is an example of ugly and heinous acts."

The professor of advanced jurisprudence course in Islamic seminary in Qom added, "Today's human society needs more fair peace than ever before, but Western governments promote violence by insulting the Prophet, and they claim to support peace and morality, though they insult the Prophet of Islam (s.w.) who is a moral figure, and his religion is the religion of peace, security, and morality, and seeks to establish a fair peace in human society. Insult to the Prophet of Islam (s.w.) is an insult to morality, justice, spirituality, fair peace, and also an insult to human ideals and values. In today's world, which poses various threats and horrors, we need to introduce such characters."

"Respect for divine prophets is obligatory in Islam", he added, "Some define insult as freedom of expression and are willing to sacrifice themselves to protect such freedom. A government like France claims to advocate the freedom of expression and considers the "insult" to be a part of freedom of expression. But we argue with many reasons that in no logic it falls in the category of freedom of expression. According to the holy books, human logic and rights and the human need for morality, spirituality, and just peace, therefore, insulting the Prophet Muhammad (s.w.) is condemned."

"You claim to support the freedom of human beings, but by insulting the Prophet of Islam (s.w.), you broke the hearts of more than one billion and nine hundred million human beings", Ayatollah Ramazani addressed the French rulers, "Isn't this hatred?! If you are really against the promotion of violence and hatred, aren't these insults to the purest man, the Prophet of Islam, the promotion of violence and hatred in human society? Does Humanity not need to spread love, knowledge, rationality, and morality? By falsely attributing to the Prophet (a.w.) and the Quran, you want to spread the threat in human society."

"Today, human society needs unity and cohesion more than ever", Ayatollah Ramazani added, "Muslims need unity and cohesion more than ever. The more unity and cohesion among Muslims, the greater the power and authority of Muslims in various cultural, economic, military, scientific, and other sectors. Our goal should be the unity of the Muslim nations and to pay attention to the teachings of the school of AhlulBayt (a.s.). In this way, we must promote the beauties of the words of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) and it is necessary to first understand them correctly and then to publish them in human society."

"The reason for the spread of the anti-Islamic project in the West is that Islam literally answers all the questions of today's human society. With the teachings of Islam, this fear has been created for the oppressive rulers of the world that humanity is turning to Islam. For, if more evil plans are made against Islam in a society, it shows that those teachings have been more effective there", the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly explained the causes of anti-Islamism in the West.

"If Islam is introduced correctly, people will be eager for it. Because the teachings of Islam are attractive, they restrict this divine religion in the West, separate the Shari'a from Islam, and oppose Islamic rules such as the hijab, and ban the hijab while claiming freedom of religion! In the West, two countries have recognized Islam, one of which is Austria, but the hijab is banned in this country. In Western countries, women with hijab are frequently attacked and in many Western and European countries, educated women wearing hijab are not employed. And also Mosques are attacked in countries that claim freedom of assembly and worship, and Westerners put Muslims under pressure, suffering, and social problems", ayatollah Rmazani said.

"The Islamic world will react to the insult to the Prophet Muhammad (s.w.) and Muslims should not be expected to hear insults to the Prophet, the Quran, and the Imams, but not to react. Muslim communities that are very concerned about Islamic rules are more sensitive to insults to Islamic rules, Sharia, the Qur'an, the Prophet and the Imams", ayatollah Ramazani emphasized.

"Western countries should not create grounds for tension in human societies. However, unfortunately, with their positions, they have provided the ground for tensions in the world. They commit illegal acts with various justifications and excuses, but they expect the Muslims to be silent and not to say a word. We hope that the wise and the decision-makers will pay attention to the consequences of these insults and condemn this ugly and heinous act", he also said.

"Religious leaders, especially the leaders of the Abrahamic religions, have a heavy responsibility on the subject of the French President's insult to the Prophet of Islam (s.w.), and they must act responsibly.", the professor of advanced seminary course concluded.
