Change, transformation, promotion, basic principles of ABWA’s new structure: Ayatollah Ramazani

Change, transformation, promotion, basic principles of ABWA’s new structure: Ayatollah Ramazani

Tuesday, 29 June 2021

On Monday, June 28, 2021, in the presence of Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, the introductory ceremony of “Director General of Studies and Research”, and “Director General of Cultural Services and Publications”, was held in the assembly building in Qom.

In this ceremony, while condoling the anniversary of Dr. Beheshti's martyrdom and congratulating the Judiciary Week, Ayatollah Ramazani said, “Ayatollah Beheshti was a unique figure. In addition to his great influence on the Islamic Revolution, he was a prominent figure in the international arena and his relations with Shiites and Muslims. He had a significant influence on Muslim relations at the Hamburg Mosque.”

“Many people have been sacrificed for this revolution. Prominent figures, even Marja Taqlid (the Sources of Emulation), have been martyred in the path of the Revolution, and we must continue their path,” he reminded, stating that the figures of the (Islamic) Revolution should be commemorated.

“The activity of the assembly is qualitative. Qualifying, following the affairs of the Shiites, and being the scientific and spiritual reference of the followers of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) around the world are among the duties of the Assembly. Being a scientific and spiritual reference for the Shiites of the world is time-consuming and may take forty years. Therefore, it needs a plan, strategy, and structure,” said the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, regarding the activities of the Assembly.

“Great steps have been taken. We must review the past. There may have been many actions in some parts, but they have not been seen. Such activities should be expressed and strengthened,” he said, regarding the need to identify shortcomings in the activities of the Assembly.

“The change discourse must be common in form and content among officials and staff of the Assembly. Institutionalizing change in the body of the structure, and trying to remove obstacles, are essential axes in the activities of the new era,” stated Ayatollah Ramazani, emphasizing the importance of moving the staff of the Assembly based on the change discourse.

“In the new era, priorities must be assessed and determined according to circumstances. In the development of the new structure, a lot of studies and details have been considered, and minor changes may be made and completed in the implementation phase,” he said while appreciating the efforts of former officials of the Assembly.

“This year, in addition to advancing the change movement, we will try to evaluate the new structure, and if there are any problems, will be fixed,” continued the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, describing the compilation of the new structure as a novel and heavy task.

“All sections will be evaluated qualitatively. We will have a six-month evaluation, and after the change, the development should be evident,” he continued, noting that “evaluation” will be part of the activities in the new structure.

“We seek to increase efficiency in activities, based on conditions and requirements,” continued Ayatollah Ramazani, mentioning that change, transformation, and promotion as the basic principles of the new structure.

“Organization means a system whose components are interconnected and pursue goals. Each part should not act as a separate island. Therefore, the deputies must be in touch with each other. All actions must be under the organization,” he said, emphasizing the need to introduce the new system to the staff.

“It is necessary to establish a transformational view in the minds. Achieving goals is not possible without organization and structure,” stated the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, while advising the Deputy for Scientific and Cultural Affairs of the Assembly to hold briefings to introduce the new system to the staff.

“All research and study activities of the Assembly should be coordinated with the office for Scientific and Cultural Affairs, and the General Directorate of Studies and research,” he said, regarding the General Directorate of “Studies and Research”.

At the ceremony, Ayatollah Ramazani awarded the letters of appointment to Hojat al-Islam Dr. Mehdi Farmanian, Director General of Studies and Research, and Hojat al-Islam Sayed Mohammad Reza Al-Ayub, Director General of Cultural Services and Publications of the Assembly.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Hojat al-Islam Ahmad Ahmadi Tabar, the deputy for scientific and cultural affairs of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly delivered a speech.

Imam Khomeini’s view was on future, construction of Islamic society, civilization: Ayatollah Ramazani

In a meeting with the staff of the Deputy for Scientific and Cultural Affairs of the Assembly, emphasizing time management, the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “According to the hadiths of the Imams (a.s.), the believer should manage time and devote his day and night to pray God, livelihood, communication with the good and the trustworthy, and allocate time for Halal affairs.”

“In 2007 and 2020, the Supreme Leader of the Revolution comprehensively discussed the change in the fields of hardware and software. Change in the management system, spiritual revolution in individuals, changes in people’s demands, and creation of self-esteem, are parts of the discussion of change in the thought of the Supreme Leader,” said Ayatollah Reza Ramazani on the need for change in all areas.

“After the revolution, Iranian society changed. In the previous regime, the society was not demanding, because the atmosphere was suffocating and no one dared to speak,” he added.

“Imam Khomeini’s view was on the future and the construction of Islamic society and civilization. He trusted the youth and was moving towards the realization of genuine Islam. Ayatollah Javadi Amoli said that Imam Khomeini changed the relationship between the Alem (Islamic Scholar) and the people from the form of a Source of Emulation (Marja-e Taqlid) and Emulator (Mowalled), and rather proposed the discussion of Imamate-Ummah. So, this theological discussion was placed under the Imamate,” stated the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“Before the Islamic Revolution (of Iran), some people cursed political figures. However, Imam Khomeini said, “Mourning and crying for Imam Hussein (a.s.) is (also) political.” According to the late Imam, mourning ceremonies, while maintaining its traditional form, can be transformative and demanding, and create ideological, value and moral changes in human beings,” he said, referring to the modern views of the late Imam Khomeini.

“From Imam’s point of view, Islam in the present age has a plan to change, and a word to say. Our revolution basically, was based on a transformational view. Contrary to some beliefs, the Imam accepted immediate change instead of gradual movement,” continued Ayatollah Ramazani.

“For the past thirty years, the Assembly officials, both Iranian and foreign members, have worked hard. The Supreme Leader of the Revolution has called for the change in all areas for starting a new era. Change must first take place in the structure. For the new chart, a lot of studies have been done, several theories have been explored, and we have also tried to use past data sets. Of course, there may be minor changes in the new structure,” stated the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, in describing the activities of the Assembly.

“Change does not happen simply by presenting a new structure plan. Rather, the most important point is that change must be happened in the minds and thoughts of all those involved. Otherwise, we will not reach a common understanding,” he emphasized.

“We need to make changes in hardware and software. The Assembly should become a scientific and spiritual authority so that if the world’s people want to know the opinion of the AhlulBayt (a.s.), they refer to the websites and institutions of the Assembly. If we get to this point, we will reach our objectives,” stated Ayatollah Ramazani, emphasizing the necessity of consultation, patience, understanding, interaction, and synergy in activities of the Assembly.

Strong Iran, will of whole nation/Creating movement for effort, work is needed: Ayatollah Ramazani

Strong Iran, will of whole nation/Creating movement for effort, work is needed: Ayatollah Ramazani

Wednesday, 23 June 2021

In a speech for the staff of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, while congratulating on the occasion of the Dah-e Keramat (ten days of the dignity), and the anniversary of the birth of Imam Reza (a.s.), Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the Assembly said, “Imam Reza (a.s.) has three scientific, spiritual and political authorities.”

Referring to a hadith from Imam Ali (a.s.) in Nahj al-Balaghah, which said, “Our words (we, AhlulBayt) are not understood, except by a divine prophet or an angel, or a believer whose heart has been tested by God Almighty and he has passed this test successfully,” the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “It is very difficult to know and access the position of the Imam. It is impossible for everyone to fully understand this position.”

“The role of Imams (a.s.) is general management in religious and worldly affairs. Imams are the deputies of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h), and the formation of government and management of society is one of their roles. Undoubtedly, religion has a policy in which morality has a special place,” said Ayatollah Ramazani.

“Imams (a.s.) are the guide, enlightener, and measurer of thought. Opening new horizons for the human intellect, enlightenment for an accurate understanding of the knowledge of religion, and the provision of a scale for measuring thought and reason, are the blessings of the Imams. In practice, too, Imams are the measure. In the ziyara-text for Imam Ali (a.s.), we read, “Peace be upon you, O scale of deeds”,” stated the representative of the people of Gilan in the Assembly of Leadership Experts.

Referring to the 13th presidential election, Ayatollah Ramazani considered the election results as good and said, “A series of problems and mismanagement led some people to ignore the ballot box. Those who did not participate in the elections should not be considered anti-regime.”

“Some boycotted the elections, which was a mistake, contrary to the opinion of Imam Khomeini, the Supreme Leader of Iran and the martyrs,” he added.

“On the other hand, Saudi Arabia, a country that does not know what election is at all, and where tyranny reigns, took provocative measures to prevent the Iranian people from participating in the elections. They campaigned to undermine the election in Iran, yet the people turned out,” said the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“There must be a movement for work and effort in the country. If this movement occurs, the people will participate in the elections. A strong Iran is desirable for the whole nation,” said Ayatollah Ramazani.

“He must be concerned about everyone, and solve the problems of the society by forming a strong cabinet so that wide-ranging changes be created in the service sector,” said the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, considering the President-elect as the President of the whole people of the Islamic Iran.

“Changes in attitudes, manpower training, services, hardware, and software must occur in the Assembly. The future of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly will be good, and we will achieve the desired results with understanding and interaction, synergy, and a developmental view, which is emphasized by the Supreme Leader of the Revolution,” stated Ayatollah Ramazani, referring to the activities of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly in various sectors.

In the Name of God, the Almighty

Your Excellency Ayatollah Dr. Sayed Ebrahim Raisi

President-elect of the Iranian Nation

Peace (Salam) be upon you

On the blessed days of the Dah-e Keramat (the ten-days of dignity), and the birth of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Reza (a.s.), I congratulate you on your success in gaining the trust of the heroic and martyr-nurturing people of Islamic Iran.

In a situation where the cultural and economic attacks of the enemies on the one hand, and the many and various internal problems, on the other hand, have made the living conditions difficult for these noble, resilient, and loyal people, God Almighty has given you this golden opportunity to remove their hardships, and by God’s Grace May you be loved by God. The Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, “All creation is the family of God, so the most beloved creation to God is the one who benefits His family.”

Also, those who are interested in the Islamic Republic all over the world, who are happy with the joy of Iranians and saddened by their griefs, are very hopeful that during your presidency they will hear good news every day of Iran’s achievements in spiritual, scientific, political, cultural and economic fields. Of course, the wise people of Islamic Iran expect their president-elect to do his best to deliver on promises such as the spread of justice and the fight against corruption and social ills, through utilizing jihadi and transformational management, with a youthful, efficient, and revolutionary team and works diligently and sincerely for the promotion of Islamic Iran and the realization of rights of people.

Here I need to emphasize that, given my responsibility in the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, and its missions in reviving the commands of the AhlulBayt (a.s.), raising the scientific, cultural and spiritual level of the Shiites of the world, and trying to address their various concerns, we are sure that your Excellency, like your term of responsibility in “Astan Quds”, will pay attention to this Assembly – and as a result to the followers of AhlulBayt (a.s.) who are interested in the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, and the Islamic Republic of Iran – and you will be blessed by Imam Reza (a.s.). As it is stated in the hadith, “May God have mercy on the servants who revive our commands…”.

May God Almighty grant you increasing success and health, and may he give you a record full of success in serving this holy system and these faithful and devoted people.

Finally, I congratulate you again on your election as President, and I assure you that I and my colleagues in the Assembly will do our utmost to accompany and assist the serving government in achieving a strong Irani at the national and international levels.

Wishing you lasting honor

Terrorist attack on Sayed Al-Shuhada High School, Kabul, one of most catastrophic terrorist incidents of contemporary era: Ayatollah Ramazani

Terrorist attack on Sayed Al-Shuhada High School, Kabul, one of most catastrophic terrorist incidents of contemporary era: Ayatollah Ramazani

On the 40th day of the terrorist attack on Sayed Al-Shuhada Girls’ High School in Dasht-e Barchi, Kabul, and the martyrdom of tens of innocent fasting student girls, a commemoration ceremony, organized by the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, was held on Thursday, June 17, 202. The ceremony was a part of a series of AhlulBayt’s virtual meetings on the subject of “Why the Shiites are oppressed in Afghanistan; Strategies to strengthen the Shiite community.”

At the ceremony, referring to the painful tragedy of the martyrdom of Shiite schoolgirls in Afghanistan, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “The terrorist explosion at Sayed Al-Shuhada Girls’ High School in Dasht-e Barchi, Kabul, which killed 85 people and injured 150 others, was one of the most tragic terrorist incidents in the contemporary era. Most of the martyrs were 13- to 16-year-old girls. Some of the martyrs of the incident were torn to pieces. So that their identification was possible only by their stationery. On the other hand, the families of these martyrs were below the poverty line.”

“Regarding the crime of martyring female students in Kabul, one should read this verse: “بِأَيِّ ذَنْبٍ قُتِلَتْ” (For what sin she was slain) (Quran, 81: 9). Although condemnation messages were issued from all over the world after this incident, and the seminaries of Qom and Najaf, the Grand Source of Emulations, Sunni scholars, pope, and various organizations condemned it, this incident is one of the most painful and horrible incidents in Afghanistan since the beginning of the American military presence in the country, even in the contemporary era,” he continued.

“For the past 20 years, the United States, before that the former Soviet Union have been present in Afghanistan under the pretext of providing security. However, we have witnessed unrest in this country for the last two decades. Even these unrests still exist today and have not diminished,” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“After this terrorist incident, different ethnic groups and parties in Afghanistan expressed their sympathy with the Shiite community of the country. Afghan Shiite clerics also unanimously condemned the Kabul terrorist attack and called on the international community to follow up on the incident internationally. They also called on the Afghan government to try to prevent a recurrence of such incidents, to introduce the criminal face of ISIL among the people, and to strengthen the national spirit in Afghanistan. These points should be followed up,” said Ayatollah Ramazani, Referring to the reaction of different segments of Afghanistan to the terrorist incident in Kabul.

“I must say that, first of all, in the Quranic culture, killing an oppressed person is equal to killing all human beings. God says in the Quran: “مَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسًا بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ أَوْ فَسَادٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ النَّاسَ جَمِيعًا” (whoever slays a soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all men) (Quran, Sura Al-Ma'idah verse 32). This Quranic view must be taken into account. According to Islam and other Abrahamic religions, man has dignity, man is the center of creation on earth, and God has created all blessings for man. For the evolution and progress of man, God has entrusted a great trust to man, and man has been able to carry this great trust: “حَمَلَهَا الْإِنْسَانُ ۖ إِنَّهُ كَانَ ظَلُومًا جَهُولًا” (but man undertook it. Indeed, he is most unjust and ignorant) (Quran, Sura Al-Ahzaabverse 72). But throughout history we have seen extremist views about the status of man,” he continued.

“In recent times, and the past few decades, we have seen that takfiri thought has had many victims of people in the world, most of whom, of course, have been in Islamic countries, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran. Also, due to these terrorist acts, we have had many victims in Iran. The martyrs Rajai, Bahonar, the martyrs of Hafte Tir bombing, the nuclear martyrs, and many other martyrs were the martyrs of terror. Unfortunately, some terrorists still believe in killing innocent people. Among the victims of their actions are defenseless women and children,” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“In this terrorist incident, which we participated in the 40th day ceremony of it, 85 girls between the ages of 13 and 16 were martyred, and 150 were injured. The terrorist incident in Kabul is a very big crime, and in response to this incident, we have to say to the Western world and international organizations: For what sin were they killed? Unfortunately, the Western world reacted very little to this incident. Sometimes, in response to the smallest thing that happens to a person in the West, all the Western media, through propaganda, deafen the ears of all the people of the world. On the contrary, sometimes big and heartbreaking events take place in the world, during which innocent people are killed, but these media do not show any reaction, and this is a very bitter issue. While these kinds of crimes must be seriously pursued by international institutions, we see some international organizations are just expressing concern! By expressing concern no problem will be solved, and unless these crimes are prosecuted, and the perpetrators are brought to justice, the concern of the international community alone cannot heal the heart wound of families who have lost loved ones,” said Ayatollah Ramazani, referring to the martyrs of the Kabul terrorist incident.

“Despite their poverty, the victims of the Kabul terrorist incident walked with great difficulty every day to get to school and pursue their education. But on the other hand, we face extremist views that forbid education for girls and women. While according to the Quran and hadiths, education is necessary for every human being, and it is obligatory for a Muslim, both men, and women. Extremist views have dealt many blows to human beings, and because of these wrong views, they have taken many people away from us. Unfortunately, this view is attributed to religion. At one time in Iraq, terrorists beheaded innocent people while reciting “Allahu Akbar” and “La ilaha illallah”! Where in the logic of Islam are there such crimes? The first verses revealed to the Prophet (p.b.u.h) were about science, knowledge, and knowledge: “اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ* الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ*عَلَّمَ الْإِنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ*” (Read, and your Lord is the most generous, * who taught by the pen, *taught man what he did not know*) (Quran, Sura Al-Qalam, verses: 3, 4 & 5). Islam invites people to learn knowledge and says that everyone should either be students and seek knowledge, or lovers of knowledge. Islam thus emphasizes the learning of knowledge. On the other hand, Islam complains of ignorance and considers ignorance as to the basis of any evil and danger to human beings. Terrorist movements are born of ignorance,” he continued.

“Throughout history, there has been an extremist view among Muslims. Of course, this view has been among other religions as well. Because of such views, some attribute violence to Islam. While Islam has come for the mercy of human beings. God says in the Quran: “وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِلْعَالَمِينَ” (We did not send you but as a mercy to all the nations.) (Quran, Sura Al-Anbiya, verse 107). They attribute violence to Islam. While the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) said, “I have been sent for mercy.” In recent centuries, due to their inability to analyze the events of the beginning of Islam, some opponents of Islam attributed the violence to Islam, and because of the occurrence of 80 wars during the time of the Prophet, they described him as the warrior. However, if we look at the wars of his time, it turns out that in these wars, the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) and the Muslims defended, and defense is based on nature and reason. By studying all these wars, this result is obtained. During his 13-year presence in Mecca and at the beginning of his prophetic period, the Prophet (p.b.u.h) witnessed only hardship, suffering, and torture, and Muslims endured these cases too; some of them were exiled, and others migrated to Abyssinia. After emigrating to Medina, from the second year of emigration, the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) witnessed the imposed wars. He defended against the attacks of the Mushrekin (Polytheists),” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“After the Khawarij, other people followed this extremist thinking in various ways. A century ago, the horrific incident of the demolition of al-Baqi (1806) was an example of the harsh view of ISIL and Takfiris. Owners of this view consider killing obligatory and educate their children with the words murder, violence, and terror. While according to the Islamic view, children should be brought up with kindness, love, and compassion for God and man,” stated Ayatollah Ramazani, referring to the extremist thought of the Khawarij.

“In human society, some people create fear about Islam and write articles about it, and introduce the Prophet (p.b.u.h) as a power seeker and warrior. While the whole existence of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) was mercy and kindness. The polytheists harassed the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and poured dirt on him, but he prayed for them. Even he would visit the polytheists on the day when they did not pour dirt on him. Some people said to the Prophet (p.b.u.h) “Curse them (the polytheists),” but he replied, “O God! Guide my people, for they do not know”,” he continued.

“They committed atrocities and crimes against humanity and committed oppression. What sin have 13- and 15-year-old girls committed? They were studying to eliminate ignorance. Eliminating ignorance can lead to the growth of society, and make it a progressive society,” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“The dangerous enemy created Wahhabism in order to hide the mercy of Islam. Because if the man becomes acquainted with the merciful thinking of Islam, he will incline to it. Quranic chapters begin with “بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ” (In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful), a sentence that refers to the Mercy and Compassion attributes of God. Words of kindness, humanity, and value, such as Rahman and Raouf, have been mentioned many times in the Quran,” clarified Ayatollah Ramazani, pointing out that the dangerous view of ISIL is made by the enemies of Islam.

“In dealing with non-Muslims, we must treat them well, because God says in the Qur'an: “قُولُوا لِلنَّاسِ حُسْنًا” (speak kindly to mankind) (Quran, Sura al-Baqarah, verse: 83). The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said that even if a non-Muslim asks a Muslim for help and he does not respond and does not support him, he is not a Muslim. But we see that an extremist thought destroys a society that must seek science, knowledge, rationality, spirituality, and relationship with God, and emphasize the development of its relationship and be on the path to a peaceful life,” he continued.

“The spirit of resistance of the Afghan people, especially the youth of this country, has always been well-known. They must resist misconceptions, and follow the path of correct knowledge about Islam, a rational Islam that is based on justice and resists dictators by reason and nature. Those who seek to attack and encroach on the honor of a country and its intellectual and geographical borders must be resisted,” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“These pure teenagers were killed without any guilt, and killing any of them means killing all of humanity. May God punishes the perpetrators of these violent actions so that these heartbreaking and painful scenes will not happen again in human society,” he mentioned.

It should be mentioned that on the evening of Saturday, May 8, 2021, 85 people were martyred and more than 150 were injured in three consecutive explosions in front of Sayed al-Shuhada High School in the west of Kabul (Dasht-e Barchi). The bombings took place in the 13th security district west of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. As the school closed and students left, a Toyota Corolla car bomb exploded at the entrance to a clinic connected to the school. Then, as the students were fleeing, two landmines exploded in their path.
