Ayatollah Khosroshahi made many efforts to correct misconceptions about Sunnis: Biazar Shirazi

To commemorate the second anniversary of the demise of Ayatollah Sayed Hadi Khosroshahi, the webinar “Man of Approximation Square” was held on Sunday evening, February 20, 2022, by the Office for Iran Affairs of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, in cooperation with the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly and similar institutions.

Hojat al-Islam Abdul Karim Biazar Shirazi, a member of the Supreme Council of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, emphasized, “The late Ayatollah Khosroshahi tried hard to create the belief among the people that the followers of other Islamic denominations did not neglect the AhlulBayt (a.s.) and are very interested in proximate the Islamic denominations and the AhlulBayt (a.s.) closer.”

“During the time of Ayatollah Borujerdi, there was a great change in the seminary of Qom. One of these developments was the proximity between Islamic denominations. Ayatollah Borujerdi sincerely believed in approximation, and it was at his time that the scholars of the seminary of Qom realized the importance of approximation. Following the issuance of Sheikh Shaltut’s historic fatwa stating that the Muslims of the world could follow Shiite jurisprudence, there was a stir among the seminarians,” he said, explaining the history of the approximation of Islamic denominations in Iran.

“At the head of these activities were the students of Ayatollah Borujerdi, and Ayatollah Khosroshahi was one of them. Together with other scholars of the time, he published the magazine “Maktab-e Islam” (School of Islam) and wrote good articles on Sheikh Shaltut’s fatwa and Ayatollah Borujerdi’s interest in approximation,” he added.

“By translating many books written by the Egyptians and distributing them in the form of pamphlets among the seminarians, Ayatollah Khosroshahi gradually introduced the scholars to the Muslims of the world and made it clear to the people that most of the Muslims of the world are very interested in approximation of Islamic denominations and the AhlulBayt (a.s.),” Biazar Shirazi continued.

“Ayatollah Khosroshahi published books entitled “AhlulBayt in Egypt” which were translated into Arabic and Persian with pictures. In those books, he stated that the Egyptians’ interest in the AhlulBayt (a.s.) is not less than that of the Iranians. He tried hard to create the belief among the Iranian people that the followers of other denominations have not neglected the AhlulBayt (a.s.),” added the Member of the Supreme Council of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.

Referring to the activities of the late Khosroshahi in Cairo to proximate Islamic denominations, he said, “Among these activities was the translation of the book Al-Urwa Al-Wuthqa, written by Sayed Jamal al-Din Asadabadi. He also wrote the valuable book “The Story of Approximation” later in his life. The AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly has published this book in Arabic and Persian.”

At the end of his speech, Hojat al-Islam Biazar Shirazi expressed his hope that the issue of proximity of Islamic denominations, which is the will of God and the AhlulBayt (a.s.), will become more widespread day by day in the Islamic world.
