Islamic Ulama must confront Western Islamophobia, anti-Islamism: Ramazani/Iraqi Sunnis responded to Marjaiat’s fatwa against ISIL: al-Sumaidaie

Following the meeting with Iraqi figures, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, met Sheikh Mahdi al-Sumaidaie, director of the Iraqi Dar al-Ifta, and a prominent Sunni Sheikh of the country.

At the beginning of the meeting, while wishing good health to the director of the Iraqi Dar al-Afta, the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “We are facing new conditions in the international arena. In this field, a new approach and view towards Islam have emerged. In this situation, we must pay more attention to the social rules of Islam.”

“In the past, the West tried to fight religion and eradicate it from human life. But given that religion is an innate subject (that is based on Fitra), they could not confront human Fitra,” he added.

“Now, we have to come up with the strongest religious ideas in the face of the ideas that are instilled in human society based on materialism,” he said, “Religion was once on the margins of international and political flows. But today, Islamic leaders play an important role in the social sphere. Therefore, they must be fully acquainted with today’s literature.”

“Westerners have raised the issue of Islamophobia and anti-Islamism. In contrast, Islamic scholars must introduce Islam as a religion of rationality, spirituality, tolerance, and just peace,” said the representative of the people of Gilan in the Assembly of Leadership Experts.

“Islamic leaders must highlight the resistance and struggle against dictatorship and arrogance and address the issues of the Islamic world,” he added.

“Today, the responsibility of Dar al-Ifta is not only in the individual spheres, but also in the cultural, social, and political spheres,” said Ayatollah Ramazani, referring to the responsibility of Sheikh al-Sumaidaie as the director of the Iraqi Dar al- Ifta, and considering it as influential.

Iraqi Sunnis responded to Marjaiat’s fatwa against ISIL: al-Sumaidaie

In this meeting, Sheikh Mahdi al-Sumaidaie, the director of the Iraqi Dar al-Ifta, continued the meeting, “Iran supported the Palestinian people, who are Sunnis. The Bosnian people were also Sunnis, but were supported by Iran.”

“Iran also supported the Palestinians in the recent Israeli war against Gaza. No one can deny this support anymore,” he continued.

“I witnessed Iraqi Sunnis welcoming videos of Iranian aid to the Bosnian people in the 1990s recently posted on social media. Iraqi Sunnis praised Iran for this support,” added the director of the Iraqi Dar al-Ifta.

“In the recent Israeli war against Gaza, Iraqis demand the call for jihad against Israel, and their anti-Zionist spirit increased,” stated al-Sumaidaie considering the Iraqis as pro-Palestinian.

“Earlier, after the issuance of the fatwa on Jihad against ISIL by Grand Ayatollah Sistani, the Iraqi Sunnis responded the fatwa and joined the fight against ISIL in groups,” he continued.

“Given the challenges, religious propagation in Iraq must be supported,” he mentioned.
