Ghadir Khumm celebration, book reading competition held in Kabul

On the occasion of Eid Al-Ghadir Khumm, a celebration and book reading competition were held in Kabul, Afghanistan.

On the occasion of Eid Al-Ghadir Khumm, a celebration was held by the Nuralhuda Cultural Center in collaboration of the Women’s Affairs Office of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Lovers Assembly of Kabul in the 18^th district of the city, with the presence of children, adolescents, young people, university professors and ulama. Also in the ceremony, the winners of the Ghadir book reading competition were given precious prizes.

Among the programs of this celebration were recitation of the Quran, poetry reading, speeches and awarding of prizes. Prominent Quran reciter Mohammad Zaki Vahedyar started the ceremony with a beautiful recitation and then Mrs. Fatemeh Heydari recited a poem about Ghadir.

 In the following, the Nuralhuda choir performed pleasant hymns on the occasion of Ghadir Kham Eid and brought a spiritual feeling to this ceremony. Next, professor Faegheh Javid and Hojat al-Islam Alemi Balkhi gave speeches on the importance of Ghadir Event.

Pointing out the verses and hadiths about this auspicious Eid, Hojat al-Islam Alemi Balkhi, the head of the AhlulBayt Lovers (a.s.) Assembly of Afghanistan, referred to the Ghadir Event as the “perfection of religion”, and said, “Ghadir is the identity of Shia.”

Citing Quranic verses and the words of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h), he emphasized, “God said to the Prophet (p.b.u.h), “If you do not introduce Ali (a.s.) and the Imams (a.s.) after him as your successors to the Ummah, you have not fulfilled your mission.” Without an Imam as a continuation of the path of the mission among people, they will lose their path.”

“According to Almighty God (s.w.t), all the words of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) are revelations. In the same way, the speech of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) when he raised the hand of Imam Ali (a.s.) as the hero of his 23-year struggle in prophethood, and said, “For whoever I am his leader, Ali is his leader”; is also a revelation,” Alemi Balkhi added.

“The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, “After I introduced Ali (a.s.) as Imam to the Ummah, the verse of “Perfection of Religion” “الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الْإِسْلَامَ دِينًا” (Today I have perfected your religion for you, and I have completed My blessing upon you, and I have approved Islam as your religion) (Holy Quran, Surah: Al-Ma'idah, Verse: 3) was revealed.” That is, by introducing Imam Ali (a.s.) as Imam, God called Islam as perfected. Therefore, the religion of Islam was completed after the introduction of Imam Ali (a.s.) as the Imam of Muslims in Ghadir Khumm Event,” continued the head of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Lovers Assembly of Afghanistan.

At the end of this spiritual ceremony, precious prizes were awarded to four winners of the Ghadir book reading competition by Sayed Mojtabi Hashemi, the head of Nuralhuda Cultural Center, and Hojat al-Islam Alemi Balkhi, the head of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Lovers Assembly of Afghanistan.
