Mirza Shirazi freed the Iraqi people from British colonialism: Al-Qurayshi

Presenting a report of the articles submitted to the secretariat, the secretary of the Conference Commemorating Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Taghi Shirazi appreciated the participants and partner organizers of the conference.

ABWA Official Website – The opening ceremony of the Conference to Commemorate Grand Ayatollah Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi was held on Saturday, December 10, 2022.

The ceremony was held in the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.) in Karbala with the large presence of ulama, clerics, national and military figures, chiefs and sheikhs of tribes, researchers, and professors from the universities of Iraq, Iran and a number of other countries of the world.

The third speaker at the opening of the Commemoration Conference of Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi was the head of the Karbala Center for Studies and Research - the Scientific Section of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.) - who called and managed the conference.

Professor Abd Al-Amir Al-Qurayshi said, “Imam Ali said to his companion Kumayl, “O Kumayl bin Ziyad! The collectors of property and wealth are ruined while they are alive (that is, although they are apparently alive, but greed, pride and rebellion have destroyed and ruined them). But scholars are stable as long as time goes on. Their appearance is lost (by death), while their faces are still in the hearts (because people remember them well)”.”

Noting the importance of the status of knowledge and scholars, ha said, “Commemoration Conference for Ayatollah Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi is the third of the Series of International Conferences for the Revival of the Heritage of the Ulama of Karbala which dedicated to commemorating and revival the works of the ulama of the city. The first and second conferences to commemorate Allameh Vahid Behbahani, and great faqih and hadith narrator Ibn Fahd Hilli, were held by Karbala Center in previous years.”

Then, regarding the position of Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi, Al-Qurayshi said, “His personality was distinguished from various scientific, religious, spiritual, political and literary aspects.”

“Mirza Shirazi II was the reference source of the political leaders and nomads’ elders, and the people of Iraq considered him their leader,” he added, “It was with these leadership characteristics that he was able to free the Iraqi people from British colonialism in 1920 Revolution.”

About the results of the call and the number of works submitted in the secretariat of the conference commemorating Sheikh Mohammad Taghi Shirazi, the secretary of the conference stated, “A total of 105 articles were submitted to the conference secretariat, of which 60 were from inside Iraq and 45 were from foreign participants. Among these articles, selected articles will be read in five specialized sessions that will be held on Saturday and Sunday.”

The head of the Karbala Center for Studies and Research appreciated the support of Ayatollah Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Karbalai, the religious custodian of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.) for his support of this event. He also expressed his gratitude for Professor Hassan Rashid Al-Abayeji, Secretary General of the Holy Shrine, for his continuous follow-up of the conference affairs.

“I would like to thank the prominent ulama and clerics of the seminary for accepting our invitation, and I also would like to express my gratitude to the departments of Public Relations and Services of Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.) and all the people who helped us to hold this conference,” Mr. Qurayshi said in the end.

It should be mentioned that the Commemoration Conference for Ayatollah Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi is the third of the Series of International Conferences for the Revival of the Heritage of the Ulama of Karbala which dedicated to commemorating and revival the works of the ulama of Karbala.

The organizer of these series of conferences is the Karbala Center for Studies and Research, the Scientific Section of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.). Previously, Karbala Center held the first and second conferences to commemorate Allameh Vahid Behbahani, and great faqih and hadith narrator Ibn Fahd Hilli.

The title of the 3^rd conference of these Series of International Conferences, was “Ayatollah Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi - Thoughts and Leadership”, which was held by Research Center of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.) in cooperation with the Shiraz University as partner organizer.

The opening ceremony of this conference was held in the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.) on Saturday, December 10, 2022, and then, after Maghrib and Isha prayers, researchers from different countries presented their articles in the evening scientific session which was held in Sayed al-Osia Complex.

On Sunday morning, December 11, 2022, the scientific session continued their activities, and the closing ceremony was held on Sunday evening.
