Advice of ABWA’s Secretary General to Islamic missionaries in Malawi
Emphasizing the capacities available in Africa, the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly addressed the missionaries, “African people are very emotional. Try to give them confidence. The greater the self-confidence, the greater the progress and growth.”
ABWA Official Website – Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, who has traveled to Malawi at the invitation of Shiites and Muslims of the country, participated in a meeting with Islamic missionaries at the representative office of Al-Mustafa (p.b.u.h) International University in Malawi.
In this meeting, while advising Islamic missionaries to continue and complete their education, the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “You should have continuing education among your plans. Do not settle for your current education. To become an Islamic scholar in the seminary, your education must be very extensive. I learn from my teacher Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli once a week in a private meeting with him. As far as I can remember, apart from academic studies, I have studied in seminary for 24 years (since 1983). I have been teaching for about forty years and I study every day. I have written more than 40 books that have been published. I said this so that you must continue your education. It would be very good if you could also study at the university so that you can later teach there as a faculty member.”
Emphasizing the necessity of studies in the field of the Quran, Nahj al-Balagha, and Sahifa Sajjadiyeh, Ayatollah Ramazani added, “If you are familiar with different languages, such as Arabic and Farsi, learn lessons from the Quran, Nahj al-Balagha, Sahifa Sajjadiyeh, as well as seminary lessons at higher levels that are available on the Internet. Many doubts are raised in the virtual space, which requires extensive study to answer them. We must have a proper education in this regard.”
Emphasizing the necessity of knowing the audience as a requirement for propagating Islam, he said, “Know your audience and speak to their capacity. According to a hadith, we should talk to people as much as they understand. Speaking language is different with different age groups, such as children, adolescents, youth, and adults, and each age group needs its own language. You should speak to the audience with the language of reason and Fitrah (human divine nature).”
“There is a small town in greater Berlin called Potsdam. In this city, for 15 years, a project was being carried out to prove that the Quran is an Arabic book, the prophet who brought it was an Arab, and as a result, its addressees are also Arabs. The goal of this project was to instill that “the Quran is not for everyone and the whole of humanity; Europeans and Americans are not the audiences of the Quran, and therefore, we use the parts of the Quran related to the preaching and leave the other parts aside.” The initial budget of this project was five million euros, which was paid by the government itself. After 15 years, the researchers of this center did not reach their desired results. Of course, the officials of this institution were not Muslims and maybe they were supported behind the scenes by some special groups. At the meeting that was held in Berlin, I spoke for two or three days, and I said, “The Quran has two languages, a conversational language and a language of understanding. The language of understanding the Quran is reason and Fitrah. The language of reason and Fitrah are not for the past but can be used for the past, present, and future. Fitrah and reason are human languages and there is no difference between Europeans, Americans, and Africans. The Quran is for all humanity. I thought a lot about this answer. This was the answer to the doubt that the Quran is only for Arabs and not for other people of the world,” said the professor of the higher levels of the seminary.
Advising the audience to familiarize themselves with the Quran, the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly added, “Training Quran memorizers in Malawi is a good thing. Because it makes your speech based on the Quran. For each subject, you should remember a relevant Quranic verse. Every day try to read at least 50 verses of the Quran and contemplate about them. Wake up 20 minutes before the morning prayer call, even if you are very tired.”
“In addition to missionaries, identify active people so that we can cooperate more effectively in holding training workshops through virtual space or in person. Forming the Missionary Council is another practical point in which missionary problems and the latest issues can be examined. Be sure to move forward with the new international environment in your advertising activity so that your activity is more effective.,” Ayatollah Ramazani said.
