In a meeting of the organizers of the International Conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), after hearing the report presented by them, the Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi expressed his satisfaction with the activities and measures taken to explain the character of Abu Talib and said, “Praise to God, extensive measures have been taken for Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), and such activities are the remnants of the righteous and will last forever. These actions will also disarm captious people.”


“The ill-wishers and those who were hostile to Imam Ali (a.s.) have always tried to tarnish the image of Hazrat Abi Talib (a.s.) and introduce him as a socialist with various quotations. The reason for this was enmity with Imam Ali (a.s.),” he said, referring to the fact that Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) is oppressed and this is due to the fact that Imam Ali (a.s.) (his son) is oppressed.


In another part of his speech, emphasizing the need to introduce Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) in a proper way for the society, especially the young generation, he reminded the organizers of the conference to take advantage of media, cultural, artistic, and cinematic attractions in this regard.


Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi considered a great service to the world of Islam and Shiism to honor and explain the character of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.). Emphasizing that Abu Talib was a true believer, he added, “Your activity in this conference should be based on reliable sources, in such a way as to prevent excuses of enemies.”
